About Us

Baseball and softball have always been about development — long practices, countless reps, and the dedication of parents and coaches helping young players improve. For pitchers, bullpen sessions are one of the most important parts of that process. It’s where they build command, develop new pitches, and gain confidence on the mound.

But if you’ve ever caught a bullpen, you know it can be tough on the person behind the plate.

As pitchers get older, they throw harder. Breaking balls start bouncing in the dirt. Fastballs miss their spot. What begins as helping your pitcher practice can quickly turn into dodging pitches or taking shots off the body.

Pitching Shield was created by parents who experienced this firsthand. As the velocity increased and new pitches were introduced, it became clear that there needed to be a better way to stay protected without purchasing expensive and cumbersome catcher’s gear that offers less protection.

The solution was simple: create a lightweight, portable shield that could absorb pitches in the dirt while still allowing pitchers to throw every pitch they need to develop.

That idea became Pitching Shield.

Today, Pitching Shield helps parents and coaches comfortably catch bullpen sessions while staying completely protected from wild pitches. It allows pitchers to practice their full arsenal — fastballs, dropballs, curveballs, sliders, changeups, etc. — without hesitation and without holding back.

Developing pitchers takes repetition, patience, and support from the people behind them.

Pitching Shield was built for those people.

The parents, coaches, and mentors who show up to help the next pitcher get better.
